nancy + frankie : 2009.5.30
From the very first meeting with nancy and frankie they stressed and I mean stressed that they did not want the typical holding hands walking through the flowers wedding photos.
After seeing a few photographers they were confident that I could provide them with what they were looking for! I was happy to oblige. If you remember there engagement session we spent two days running from the meat packing distirct to an abandoned school in yonkers searching for some urban decay. Frankie even went as far as bringing his custom chopper for some of the photos. Here is the blog post for that.
The challenge is to make the wedding photos and the engagement session have some continuity. With the engagemet session you can take some liberties with locations. (no expensive dress to worry about) For the wedding we wanted something urban but not so grungy. I found this location a few months back and thought it would be perfect. We were able to get the edge we were looking for and still keep the dress from getting wrecked.
This part is very important. When you look at these images you are probably thinking I won’t take traditional pictures. Totally not true, this is the style nancy and Frankie wanted. I cater my style to you and your vision. This post hopefully shows my ability to get the shot whatever your taste is!
Enjoy these images, I know Nancy and Frankie enjoyed making them with us!
p.s. nancy and frank your personal message is below in white!
Dave and the moving pictures crew was on hand to shoot the video of this insane day. As dave continues to set trends he has a new option now. The day after your wedding he will edit a video recap of the day and post it online for you and your family to see. What a great idea!
Here its is. Great job Dave.
elena + michael : 2009.5.29
Before I go any further I need to mention that I have never felt more welcomed at a wedding then at Elena and Michaels wedding. Elena, you, your family and your friends were so wonderful to Ronnie and I tonight It reminded me why I love weddings so much, Thank you.
These photos are some of my favorite untermeyer park photos. Michael grew up in Yonkers and spent many days (or nights) ; ) in Untermeyer park. He showed me some places I never thought of shooting. He gave new life to a park I thought was way overshot. Add these new locations to a bride that was up for anything and you get something special. From the minute I walked in the door she kept saying to me do anything you want. That always works for me. It makes me step back and analyze the wedding photography world and realize that people want something different. If you approach every wedding with a list of “shots” your style and career is going to get old quick. Elena you desire for something different made me look at the day differently, for that I also thank you!
You guys were an absolute pleasure to work with. I hope you enjoy this sample. This is the tip of the iceburg there is lots more to come!!
I also need to mention Art (thats not just a clever name, check out his site) from Northeast Horizons. (He shot the video.) It was a pleasure to work with you again Art your work is definitely above average and I look forward to working with in the future!
p.s. Apparently I had many fans at this wedding (hi guys!) Don’t be afraid to comment! : )
charesse + ben : 2009.5.24
So how many people are in your bridal party? Bet you cant beat 32!! That is by far the largest bridal party I have ever shot. Thank god they were all really cool and easy to work with.
Ben and charesse are two people that I’ve gotten to know pretty well. Actually, Ben I have know for years, and I’m so glad that I was able to meet Charesse though him. They are two very interesting people with an interesting story. If you don’t know they have been dating since high school. Thats quite a statement to how much they love each other!
Im so happy that I was able to share this day with you guys. Have a great trip and I will see you soon.
Yes, that was the wave!
