I know, its been a while!

I just looked at my last blog post and realized its been a long time.

Truthfully I needed to reset. In total last year Ronnie, Jason and I shot almost 100 weddings.
That might not seem like a lot but think about that!
Anyway, Im back and totally refreshed. I spent the last few weeks with Gretchen and Stella oh and Cath : )
For those of you who did not receive a christmas card from us here it is.
As usual its not your typical card. And no the stuffed animals were not in the original picture.

So this new year has presented some huge opportunities for me and the studio.
First off I will be welcoming two new photographers to the team.
Anthony Petrozza is joining as a main photographer and will be shooting his own weddings starting mid year.
We just shot his head shot for the website. Everyone say hi to Anthony!

This means that the studio will now be able to accomodate three weddings in one day.
No more sad faces when the phnoe rings and I’m not available!

Anthony brings a refreshing new approach to the mix and I will be sure to point out all of his work as the new year unfolds.
And in a few days I should have his about page up and a gallery of last years images posted.

Next is a second shooter who has been interning at the office for the past year.
Kerrie Sansky has assisted me and also has shot second camera throughout 2009
Kerrie joins as a second shooter for 2010.
Sorry no photo of Ms. Sansky yet : (

This new year will also have Ronnie and I traveling for a few weddings including an event overseas.
In August we will shoot in Gozo, Malta.
For those of you not familiar with Malta its one of Europe’s smallest countries and is located off the coast of Italy.
Before I signed the contract to shoot the wedding there I did a little bit of research and was totally blown away with how beautiful the country is.
Im really looking forward to this experience.

So hang on everyone this year is going to be as huge as the last two years and I promise to keep it interesting.

Ricky

Edited to add
Thats right I forgot to mention that in the next few days I will be posting a best of 2009. Plus a little slide show of me and the crew risking our lives to get some awesome images for all of you!

what no wedding this weekend?

Nope, the winter is coming!
So in order to keep the blog current and interesting I decided to pull some of the engagement photos I shot in the past few weeks.

But most importantly I want to introduce everyone to Nancy.
You might remember her from this years weddings. The photos were in the gallery section of my website for the first half of the year,
she was the bride with the blue shoes and her husband Frankie was standing on the guard rail under the Throggs Neck Bridge.
Still don’t remember her, here is the post.
Anyway she is the new studio manager and in charge of everything office related.
In the future you will get emails from her, and me, but mostly her regarding things like timelines for your weddings, booking appointments, picking up proofs/albums.
So you can put a face with the name here’s nancy!

Yes it has been a busy few weeks. : |

october 2009 update

I don’t even know where to begin with this. It all started Thursday afternoon when I tried to move my website from one server to another. That totally didn’t work, at all, I lost everything! The only thing that I had a backup of was this blog. I was completely lost, but thanks to the work of my brilliant web designer Kris Locascio we were up and running in a few short days. The site is being completely rebuilt and should be 100% by the middle of the week.

So yeah, its now 1:45 and I just finished blogging all three weddings, I couldn’t leave my dedicated monday morning blog readers out in the cold. And trust me the blog party is not ending here for the week. I have 5 portrait clients tomorrow and 3 engagement sessions to shoot this week so if your into it check back mid week. Shit maybe you should all become a wednesday morning blog checker. Alright enough I’m going to bed.

Ricky

Oh yeah – what do you think of the new music? And yes I know song number three is a song about some dude that runs into his ex girlfriend and cant deal. Not really wedding related, but still a killer song!

Can you believe it?

I didn’t have any weddings this weekend, Don’t worry it was deliberate. Catherine the girls and I usually go away the second week in August but this year we decided to stay home so I could start renovating our master bathroom.
Exciting news I’m sure your all thrilled for me.

Anyway I wanted to post a save the date card I just finished for Tracey and Angelo. They had their photos at the highline in NYC and I loved the card so I wanted to share it.

Next weekend I have a triple so you will have lots of wedding photos to see!

Best of Yonkers

This past week I was running around Yonkers photographing for the chamber of commerce.
Each year they do a readers poll to find the “best of” Yonkers. Stores, Restaurants, you name it.
I had a few favorites from the bunch. My all time favorite was Harrys Shoe Repair in the square. The owner was so cool and had this awesome store with wall to wall black and white photos, he even had the ceiling covered. Who knows maybe my shot of him will make it up there!

this next photo was shot in a tiny cigar shop where they roll fresh cigars. Not exactly my thing but the location and old school cigar rollers were awesome.

This last shot was simply a pint of Guiness. But after running around yonkers in 100 degree heat nothing was better : ) thats kinda why it made it into my favorites, I felt guilty that I drank it so fast, I figured it was an easy way to make it live on forever!
